Serhiy Trofymenko, NAAEE/AED/Smithsonian Institution/EPA Fellowship alumnus, conducted a seminar “Fundraising for NGOs” for local NGO representatives. Serhiy, as a representative of local resource center for NGO development, focused on very important for NGO representatives topics. A lot of useful links of funding organizations were presented to participants. The seminar was accompanied with Power Point presentation and was very interesting to participants.
Tetiana Potapenko, Americans for Democracy in Ukraine alumna, conducted a seminar “Internet Resources for English Teaching” for English language schoolteachers and students of Pedagogic University.
We have held presentation fof Internet services and resources for members of “Young Journalist” club, organized by Oblast Library for Children.
Another group of English teachers learned about Internet resources devoted to studying English during a seminar “Internet Resources for English Teachers”.
Another training for the Volunteers School took place. This time it was dedicated to creation of mulrimedia presentations.
We have conducted seminar “Job Search in the Internet” for ECA exchange programs alumni.

IATP users meet Mark Pomar, President of IREX, in Chernihiv.
On the first day of July Mark Pomar, President of IREX, being on a business
trip to Ukraine, visited the IATP center in Chernihiv. For Mr. Pomar to get
a better understanding of IREX impact and results of work, a meeting with
the most frequent and active users of IATP was organized at the center.
Among them were alumni, journalists, NGO representatives, doctors and
teachers. Everybody had a lot to tell the guests (Mr. Pomar was accompanied
by IREX and IATP administration members from Kyiv) about his/her
professional achievements and the role of IREX and its programs therein. The
skills acquired as the result of exchange programs and Internet access and
trainings of IREX were stressed out as the most necessary and useful. Many
of the present told that they not only learn at the center, but also give
this knowledge to others - colleagues and students - conducting seminars for
them. The participants had their questions answered by Mr. Pomar, who was
also interviewed by a local radio station. Successes and gratitude of our
audience gave IREX team more energy to go on with providing more quality
services and continue satisfying their needs.

The second English club meeting took place. The English-speakers – alumni, progressive representatives of mass-media and authorities – had an opportunity to familiarize with searching techniques of different searching servers and to determine their preferences. The level of searching skills was checked with help of practical tests, which were prepared by Bill Fordise, volunteer of Peace Corp.
